The tension on the wire may have caused a fracture at the ends, as well as the obvious place where it tore apart.

Have now checked both gauges fuses, both ok. None of the other fuse names seem relevant. Any other suggestions anyone?

Nick check all the fuses...sometimes the names are not relevent and use other circuits to operate some funny things.

Isnt there two fuse banks in the cruiser? One up inder the dash as well and very hard to find?

Matt.

The wiring maybe broken inside the insulation and you can't see it.

try opening up the outer insulation and looking/feeling along the inner cores for damage. You could also test from where you repaired to the plugs for continuity.
