G'day,
I have an 80 Series GXL with electric mirrors. The passenger side mirror has developed the shakes and I'm wondering if there is any advice you can provide to tighten it up. It still adjusts ok it just shakes a bit.

Thanks
Toolman

have a look from underneath the mirror housing & there might be a hole in the housing where you can insert a phillips head screwdriver & tighten a screw on the mirror mechanism to tighten it up

I too have been puting up with a shaky mirror ,just been downstairs and fixed it , allways just thought the hole was to let the water drain out, LOL , thanks for the heads up.

Be very careful with tightening that screw because the housing the screw goes into is only plastic and easily broken. Then it will really rattle!

Emo replied:

Take the screw out the bottom and carefully take the mirror bit out (I think it "hooks" on so it needs to be lifted up to get it out). Put a big dob of silicone on the back of the housing and replace the mirror. Put the screw back in.

Worked for me.

Excellent!, I've located the hole. Many thanks for taking the time to answer the question everyone. I will attend to the mirror in the morning.

Usually the problem is from the broken hooks that Emo mentioned. And yes fix it with a dob of silicone and you wont have problems again.
