Rear Locker for a 78 series

Submitted: Monday, Dec 03, 2007 at 15:02

Noisy Mango

Hi all,
Has anyone had any experience with TJM lockers for the rear diff? Our LSD has died & we are tossing up whether to fit an ARB or TJM rear locker.

We have the ARB air rear (& front) diff lockers.
The rear has got us out of the poo on a number of occasions. Haven't got that far in that we've HAD to use the front- but have operated it just to keep it in working condition.

Yep have had TJM Prolockers in for about six months. Seem to work ok but have not really done enough to give them a big work out. Did have a soilinoid fail which was replaced gratus and have had no further trouble.

If you really want a good quality proven Diff Lock have a look at this PDF file , I have them fitted both diffs, If you have any doubts about steering problems ask Jeff H , He has seen my double Diff Locked Troopy in action.

Doug,
you wouldn't happen to have the part numbers for a '78 troopy (i.e. no spin rear and truetrac front part numbers...)

I'm not a specialist in Detroit gear, I don't have books and manuals that have information about what every 4x4 diff lock part number is , check this link and call them .

Wayne,

Scott at Penrith TJM has fitted a few with no problems.

I will fit both front and rear soon as the funds become available.

If you fit them before I do I will check yours out, but I am sure they will be alright.

The rear LSD going, was that the noise that you had and was not sure what it was?

Hi Wayne,

We still havent found the noise but hoping that it may be related to the failure of the LSD.

Will give you a call for a chat.

Wayne.

John,

I wish I did have the lockers. The list if extras has not been updated as yet on My Rig page.

The vehicle feels likes it has lockers sometimes but that is only psychological. That make a very cheap locker.
