timglobal,
There is a book called Explore
Australia by Four Wheel Drive (dont know if it is still available) that covers
Sydney to Brisbane by the back roads.
I know you want to do this in reverse, so you will need to plot this in reverse, so here is what they suggest.
Sydney to Freemans Waterhole, Kurri Kurri, Raymond Terrace, Booral to
Gloucester,
then Cundle Flat, Dingo Tops NP, Maxwells Flat, Oxley Highway to Yarras, Mt Wilson Reserve, Wild Bull
Camping area, Rollands Plains, Kippara State Forest to Kempsey,
then Cedar Park Reserve, Bowraville, Bellingen, Nanna Glen, Corrindi Beach then Pacific Hwy to
Grafton,
then, to Whiporie, Pikapine, Mallanganee, Toonumba Dam, Kyogale, Cawongla, Mebbin Forest, Tyalgum and Murwillumbah.
There are various
camping spots mentioned in the book and whether they are all still open, I dont know. There may even be more open by now as this book is quite a few years old.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Cruiser
