I'd go the Strez - more interesting country and good stop for a swim at MonteCollina. If the old track is in good condition it's a no-brainer as it follows the creek and if loamy/sandy country, not the harsh stones of the new (and longer) northern section. Check at Innamincka first on the condition but it has to be the first option. good luck!
