Puncture Repair

Submitted: Tuesday, Jun 03, 2003 at 12:55

Groove

Hi all,
At a recent 4x4 show I saw a puncture repair kit being demonstrated. I have seen similar kits in lots of places and have used one for a while. The one I saw at the show was different in that it was constructed all from metal. The plastic handled one I currenlty use has broken and I am looking to replace it.

Has anyone else seen these or know where I can get one from?

This is the typre of kit where you dirve a rubber plug into the puncture with a spiked tool? Am I making sense?
Thanks

I'd say that's the one. I bought mine from the ARB store and have used it hundreds of times. Worth its weight in gold. They supply two of the prongs but haven't broken one yet. Just don't twist the inserter - use the supplied gimlet for enlarging the puncture hole.

Groove, you may be referring to the R&R Beadbreaker. They had an advert in the last Aust. 4wd Monthly. Good unit and doesn't damage alloys. Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi groove, yes it is the Safety Seal unit that flappan mentioned, its the best one, once you have used it youll realise how poorly made the others are. You also get about 40 repair strips with the safety seal unit, probably never need to buy more. Michael,
