Apple Quicktime movie player wont work !

G day all
Have some footage on a CD of our trip last year, on Apple QuickTime.
Every time I go to play it my computer shytes itself and reboots!
Very very annoying!.
No matter what I try, it reboots, even with the latest version.
Anyone out there can help me ?
What haven't I preloaded, to get things to going ?
Os there any outher softwaer I can get to play these small video's ?

if you are on a pc use this

quick time is pathetic .. I use an older version of this and never had a problem. and it does not bother you with all sorts of upgrade advertising,
well at least my version doesn't..
