2008 City Navigator Update?

Hi, I saw a item a few days ago about the problems with getting your copy of the 2008 City navigator update & then getting it to open, my mate recieved his copy in the mail yesterday ( has been away) and we installed it today, just put the disc in and it loaded up , no problems. I thought I read that you could only put it on one PC but we installed it on his laptop as well, it looks as if as long as you have Mapsource installed it will go on,
Just a point we downloaded the latest Mapsource up date first , because he had a lot of strife with City navigator 7(loading) untill he downloaded the latest version.
seems to be a fair bit more detail ( lakes etc) and the new roundabouts are in it.
Cheers Des,

You can use it on as many computers as you want but the last one you could have it work with two Garmin GPS's, any more and you had to buy another licence.

The new one I have heard you only can use one Garmin GPS before you have to buy another licence.

Have you tried conecting up a GPS to it and seeing if it works.

City Navigator will show detailed maps and streets when you have no Garmin GPS connected to it, if you connect a Garmin GPS to it and have not regersted the Garnim GPS with the software the detail of the maps change. Once you have regersted the Garmin GPS to the software you get full detail maps again.

You can ONLY use City Navigator with a Garmin GPS.

Des the 2610 will have to be regersted if it is going to be used as the GPS for City Nav on a laptop.

The regerstration pairs the GPS and City nav software.

Hi, The GPS is registered on his main PC and he has had it for a fair while, it gave him the unlock code for the update of his registration from the Garmin site , do you know if the one rego will work on both PC's. I think it will because I have his mapsource info etc on my PC and it let me load all my WA trips on to it in August, I borrowed his GPS for the trip,
I have a Tom Tom but it wont recognise it, I didn't think that it would but got the GPS with my Next G phone.
Thanks for your reply's Cheers Des.

If you have the unlock code it will work on any computer that that GPS is connected to upto two Garmin GPS's.

If you tried a differant Garmin GPS you would have to get a differant unlock code.

The software has a serial number that you have to use to load the software to the computer and once loaded you have to provide the serial number of the Garmin GPS that you want to use to unlock the maps when the Garmin GPS is connected.

If you use the City Nav without a GPS connected the maps are unlocked, but as soon as you plug your Garmin GPS into the computer the maps lock until you get an unlock code from garmin.

It is there way of protecting there software.
