Happy 2008...

Submitted: Wednesday, Jan 02, 2008 at 16:06

Al & Mrs Al (Vic)

Hi all,

we have returned home safely, we had a wonderful week with Glenn and his son James at Waratah Bay in Sth Gippsland, a lovely spot and well worth another visit. We spent the tick of midnight of NYE on the beach watching the fireworks.

The CP we stayed in was great, really kid friendly and the site we had was very nice and bushy...and we amazed fellow campers with our camp cuisine - we took our weber, one bloke as he walked past each night took a peek to see what we were cooking next. The beach is excellent - wide sand and the waves were great for the kids and body boarding with very little undertow.

We took a trip down to the prom and were amazed at how crowded Tidal River was, or maybe I just didn't think it was going to be like that....and were very relieved to be staying where we did....infact a few campers made the same remark. The kids loved Squeaky beach though.

All in all a great week, with fantastic weather - not too hot, not too cold...just right!

Great to see Joe has posted his King Single Cab that Al converted on here as well.

Our rig did well and the new camping box on the back was excellent....shall try and get a couple of pics when I've unpacked.

cheers

Lyn

We went camping after Christmas at the Barmah State Forest on the Murray in the same spot we stopped in September.

The river was up over 1.5 metres from then and running a lot stronger.

The highlight was seeing all the paddlers go past on Friday, but it was hot hot HOT so we folded tents and headed home on Sunday.

Cheers

Pete

My Wish for You in 2008

May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet of $100 bills. May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assau lt your lips! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the problems you had forget your home address! In simple words ............

May 2008 be the best year of your life!!!

Cheers Kev and Darkie :))

Welcome back! We kept the fires burning for you although not on 31/12 as it was TFB, and someone left a message but it was stuck to the fridge and last I saw the fridge was going out with the papers.

Hi Lyn,

Happy New Year to you and the family.

We're off to the Prom at the end of next week. If it wasn't for the beaches and bush walks it wouldn't be our first choice for "secluded camping"! We've been lucky the last two years though and have had sites aways from "Nappyville" which is the affectionate name for the area around the store. It was a real shock when we first went there during school holidays as Annie & I remembered it from Uni days quite differently. Luckily none of the sites have power so you don't have the full size fridge/tv/play station/ghetto blaster/flood lights etc.

All the best

Adrian

Hi Adrian, Annie and kids,

Waratah Bay is a great place, though if you want to bush walk you have to drive to the Prom, the beach there is brilliant, as safe as a beach can be...plenty of space and the CP has some great bush camping sites - they have "walk in" ones which are suitable tents or Non powered ones which have a bush setting- which is where we were and powered ones as well. it was a very quiet place and the only time we heard noise late was NYE.

I would imagine the Prom would be very different in non school holiday times....but packed in like they were did not appeal to us.

Have a great break, hope you get a site away from "Nappyville"

Lyn
