I'm amazed that Sensis get away with selling a product that is so full of errors, without thousands complaining that it is not of merchantable quality.

All I can say is your not using it right, i.e still earning, if you had it set to navigate SHORTEST it would do just that, and to be sure you can make a Via point on the road between Blanchetown and Morgan, I know the area well , lived at Waikerie for 9 years, also make sure you have the setting to Car/Motorcycle , the distance from the Sturt Hwy to Eudunda Rd is 36.6 Klm.
I use a Nuvi 660. cannot fault it, In Brisbane when set to Car/Motorcycle it will not guide you into a Bus Only lane, Give time and you will learn how to use it and you will enjoy .

My experience also. You have to know where you are going in order to trick the machine to give you the right route. That's why I don't recommend anything with the sensis maps in it. the only unit that works straight out of the box is the Navway. Eric

I know what you are on about the new Nuvi 760. They had only just been released before Christmas and our rep gave us a demo and they looked like the Bees Knees, with all the bells and whistles.

I sold 2 to one of our customers for Christmas presents and he came back 2 days later with one main query and not impressed,
How do I find the local hospitals in the area. Even though he was a local and knew that the units were wrong, there a 5 Hospitals within the Clare area (Balaklava, Snowtown, Clare, Burra and Riverton), the unit said that the nearest hospitals were over 100 kms away, at either Gawler or Port Pirie.

I rang our local Garmin distributor today and gave them my complaint, that in the event that you were a tourist to the area, it could be a life or death situation in the event that you were looking for a hospital. I was told that they were not responsible, as they were using the Sensis product software and the product is only as good as the software supplied.

I feel that this is very poor, not by Garmin, but by Sensis for giving misleading information.

Hi David just last week i had my Nuvi 760 lock up on me 5 times in one day, and once today. I had it side by side next to the Tom Tom on PDA and it was better for road navigation but i also found it slower compared to the Tom tom.
The red light camera notifications came just as i drove past or after the cameras. After using it for 3 weeks i'm also not very happy either, Of course it took me at least 2 weeks before i found the bugs . I rang Harvey norman to see if I could swap it or get my money back and they said only up to 2 weeks from purhase.

I find it takes up to 3 minutes to get sat lock when I first turn it on in morning, I don't believe it has a sirf 3 chipset even though they claim it. I am used to a more advanced GPS than this and I thought and was told this was the best so far.

I also had troubles 3 days ago coming back from Melbourne where the text to speech stopped working for no reason.

I should have brought the 276c or the 7200 instead

But this problem with locking up isn't a good sign.
I still think the Tom Tom has a much better POI section.

Try finding Mount Barker then type in Mt Barker

To save the smail trail to must have the new version of mapsource trip and waypoint manager. you also need that to add multiple waypoints.

I haven't tried adding tracks but you can add routes as long as it's from the same Mapsource version

If you want to add your own POI you'll need to download GSAK and know how to use the macros to create them.
I've got her talking up to 20 words about the POI and with the POI loader you can set the warning distance.

I found you can't edit the waypoints from the list but you can create another one.

I don't like the way they use the Favorites button to store the Waypoints, where in TomTom you can asine (not the correct spelling after a few drinks ) you can add as many different types of POI

A lot of the speed limits are wrong around Adelaide and the new intersection Mullers rd and regency road is not updated and yet just out of Hoopers crossing it wanted me to drive down a new propossed road which has just started works

The Maps update are more than likely better for the eastern states then SA

As you can see i have done heaps with mine

If I didn't want to add Shonkymaps i would have brought the TomTom 720 instead

I'll let you know about adding track logs from ozi in a few days

One of the problems with City Navigator is the lack of acknowledgement/recognition of ferries across the Murray. If you want to travel to say Swan reach or say Loxton via Sedan etc Navigator will send you off along the Sturt Highway. Install a copy of Shonky Maps or Tracks4 Australia. Whilst neither will allow voice assisted navigation they will accurately plot and indicate to you your location, direction etc. Good enogh to find the ferry at Swan reach. Good luck.

I recently had a bad experience with City Navigator 7 in my Garmin 276C. On a trip fropm Sydney to Brisbane I decided to make a detour to Wooli, as I often see it from the ocean and was keen to visit. Trusting the Garmin implicitly, I turned off onto what appeared to be a forestry road in a Camry sedan. The road progressively became worse, I jacked the car about five times, then found myself at a place called Collett's Crossing, where I was confronted by a river with no visible crossing. All vehicle tracks looped and returned from whence they came.
In all, it took me five hours by the time I returned to the highway with a very dirty car (and driver) both much the worse for wear and a very frightened wife who has not a good word to say about the technology.
I have since investigated the route planned by City Navigator and found that, had I negotiated Collett's Crossing, it would have attempted to take me in a straight line to Wooli across further rivers etc. The Garmin was set to Car/Motorcycle.
Google Earth shows that it would have turned me off at Eight Mile Lane. I would have seen Wooli, enjoyed the drive, and arrived in Brisbane on time.

I have a Nuvi 760 and just tried setting the same route and it seemed to work okay (36 km distance for the route recommended).

My unit has the 2008 maps and they may be different to yours. If the road is not mapped on your unit, the Garmin will not be able to route along it (not intending to be rude or funny).

You should also look at the settings for "avoidances". As a result of your query, I noted that mine had been set to avoid unpaved roads and that would make a substantial difference to route calculations where there are many dirt roads.
