A mate of mine with a similar Prado didn't agree with me and fitted a Safari
snorkel to his vehicle. He found he actually had more power
on the road (real or perceived I'm not sure, I couldn't tell the difference), however he definately had a lot more induction noise (right outside the drivers window) and after about 3 months he started complaining about using more fuel. When I had a look at it, the air cleaner was filthy rotten dirty after only about three thousand kilometres (none of them off sealed roads). I washed and cleaned the filter (genuine Toyota) and his fuel economy returned again, but now he cleans the filter ever 1-2,000km.
So I believe unless you are going into deep water regularly they can be more of a hindrance than a help. I hope this helps. If you want any more information please email me again. Cheers.
