Dirt road from Maryvale to Chambers Pillar good condition.
Small sand dunes no longer a problem, as they now have a river gravel base, on their crests, which substantially improves traction. Road into Chambers Pillar is negotiable by 4WD, SUV's, and adventurous 2WD vehicles with clearance. Minor sand drifts and creek washouts on the way.
From Stuarts Well to Chambers Pillar and return, is about a 7 hour round trip with 6 gates to open/close.

Well the off road track upgrade (sand dune consolidation in particular) , does make this sensational location, more accessible, to more travellers, with less M/V wear and less fuel consumption, but its still quite an adventure going out into this remote area. It was 44 degrees when i went there on 06JAN08, and I didnt see another traveller all day...Cheers...

Was there last May the road was in very poor shape good to see someone got the grader out and fixed it and know maybe more people will be able to access it as its one of the best things to see in NT
