We spent from 20th of December to 18 Jan in Tassie. Loved every minute of it. Much to my husband disgust we never stayed on schedule, we had brought See Tassie Cards, which are well worth the $$ if you do everything that cards allow you to do, we did almost everything, from a Jet Boat ride, hang gliding,
Port Arthur, Air walk , brewery tour at Cascades, though we found Boags was better, and many other things. We have three kids and the kids had the time of their lives...something that they will never forget. They saw Wild Oats finish...did a walk around the entire fleet of the
Sydney to Hobart.
Don't forget to visit the seahorse, platypus houses and Grubb shaft gold ( Beaconsfield mine is next door )is worth a visit. You really need a day and half at
Port Arthur, not only do the day walk around, but also the night and go out to Ilse of the Dead, we did not have time. We also did the histroic walk around Hobart, some interesting stuff on that tour, that was one of the things on the See Tassie cards.
A don't take all the
weather as
cold and
shower....when we were there it did actually get to 40C.
We are planning on going back, when we get the kids off our hands, in about another 7 years...though the little buggers will probably want to come too. There is an awesome firework factory in Glenorchy.....my b-i-l wallet was left a little light after a visit to that
shop.
Fot the record we did six weeks
on the road and took over 3500 pics.....so make sure you have a few empty memory cards or take a laptop to store the pics on...
