Mate,
I can assure you that the roads into Carnarvon Gorge aren't all paved and the ones that are have sustained damage.

There are numerous places where the road was completely washed away. As of Friday some damage has been made trafficable but the last road report I recieved before leaving work on Friday was that the access road was still closed.
I will be heading down that way hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday to do a flood assessment report If I can get through.

The main road from Rolleston to Injune was opened on Friday
But betwween Rolleston and the Carnarvon turnoff there are a few bad blowouts (potholes).

Regards
Dave

One way to make sure crime doesn't pay would be to let the government run it.

Hi I've just come back from there and the road is closed as is Takarakka and the National park rd before the Balloon Cave.
It has been pouring up there since midday and the creek is on the way up.
I would say sometime in the next month if it stops raining (which it won't do this week).

Kev,
We can't do anything up there untill it has had time to dry out which would be about 2 weeks after it stops raining.

I nearly got swept off the causeway on the sealed section yesterday as it flows too quick.

The Council will focus on the major highways (with main rds permission) and major arterials first. People could have got out of Carnarvon yesterday morning but with the storm I saw up there yesterday I'd say from about 1pm yesterday the creeks would be back over 1m on the causeways and flowing at about 30-40kph.
