I bought Techni Ice and on balance decided it was poor value for money for cooling a 45lt Evacool. Better to find block ice.

Techni-ice basically worked as promised but you have to get the stuff really cold (say -15C) in your freezer for a day or three and it gets kinda inconvenient. Cut into smaller pieces it's great for lunch boxes and day trips, etc.

I bought some techni-ice about 2 years ago. I bought it a 4wd show. I was told that techni-ice was going to be sold in the major camping supply places, but a premium price. I have since seen it in Rays Tent city in their Nunawading store in Melbourne.
With regard to it's usefulness, I use it in my fridge (Bushman) which I generally use as a freezer. I swap it once or sometime twice a day (depends on outside temperature) into an old esky for the things that need to be cold but not frozen. The system seems to work OK for me.
Rgds,
Malcolm
