It never ceases to amaze me how a choice between the two need be made when you put them side by side.
Unless you cant afford the extra 200bucks then i can understand.

There is barely a comparison, they both are fridges,, there is your only comparison.

One has a floppy lid and the other is sturdy and secure.
One has a great seal and the other has barely a seal.
One has a great latch and the other has flimsey.
One nuisance trips out on low voltage and the other doesnt.
One draws 4amps and the other under 2.

And what great guys for giving a fridge to this bloke.Good One.

No matter how worthy you believe the cause to be I don't think you should be bagging someone because they decide not to give something away. If every 'worthy' cause in Australia asked for some free products a company would go out of business very quickly. How do you know that the company in question has not already 'given' heaps of their products away already this year ? How many 'free' trips do you give away each year ? And does it really matter what or which charity any individual or company supports anyway.

Perhaps there is a bigger picture here, I'm a corporate sponsor of a charity in Darwin, in fact it's the Variety Clubs, Palmerston shopping centre special children's Xmas party.

I would also help someone like Micheal if asked, It is a great feeling to help those that are in need, but it's not always possible, companies have a budget for this sort of thing, and perhaps Waeco had surpassed that.

If he comes my way tell him to look me up and I will give him 4 seats on my tours to raffle at the local pub. ( June to October)

I work in an aged care facility and see people dying of cancer every day. My partner is a theatre RN and tries vainly to save the lives of young people with cancer every day.

It is not about who does what at what cost for whom. It is about what that individual does for the greater cause that is important.

If this bloke Michael wants to raise some money to help fund finding a cure stop my son, daughter, grandchild, parents etc dying an horrible, painful and possibly preventable death then he has my ovation.

Let's not lose the focus here people. It could just as easily be your loved one or even you that is next. If you doubt what I say, take a walk through the oncology ward of your local hospital. What you see will overshadow any argument about which fridge manufacturer needs the support of the travelling community.
All kudos to Engel and to the other member from NT who offered to help.

Maybe we all should give some thought to seeing how we could help this guy make a difference. Not argue about fridge current draw and floppy lids.

Jim, please publish a link to his appeal co-ordinator so we can donate. We both see too much cancer related death every day.

I ran a retail outlet near Perth for 10 years and was bombarded with requests for donations, freebies etc etc. Everybody from Rotary Clubs to PreSchool quiz nights to the family who wanted to get their son/daughter to a dance competition in downtown anywhere on the east coast (airfares).

Eventually you have to cry: enough is enough!

By all means spread the good word about the people who did support this person on his commendable cause but you are simply out of line bagging those who didn't.

Aren't there some other fridge manufacturers you could have bagged too.

What if Outback Interiors supported someone and you got bagged because you chose not to? Maybe you had all the valid reasons but would you like the bagging?

You certainly do have principles that other people don't have... thank goodness for that otherwise we would all be holier than thou.

Maybe you should read Uncle's Blog "Eucla to Kalgoorlie". Paragraph 4 mentions a donated Waeco fridge. Who donated it ? I don't know.

There are a lot more fund raisers for Cancer than just Michael Mitchell's worthy effort.

Jimbo.....maybe a well done Engel post was what you should have done. I am sure Waeco have done their fair share of good deeds but all company's have their limits. Where i work it all gets down to the timing of when you ask. Someone may ask for a donation one week and get knocked back but the next week there is room for a donation. And as for value for $$$ Engel have a long way to go before they are competitive lol.
