actually Google Map and Google Earth are different..
One requires you to have the program loaded onto your PC and depending on if you stick with the free version or pay for registration you get various features. Google Map is part of your internet explorer and allows you to view map/topo or satleite photographyy but has different features to google earth.
Google earth for example allows you to import your
GPS track and do a fly over of it and look at different features from different angles, eg you can actually drop down into the Grand canyon and look around as if you were below the horizon and look/fly up creek lines /rivers etc.. I don't think Google Map allows you to view in 3D and change your POC other then straight down from above.
