Have you been able to find this new meteor crater?

It's supposed to be about 35km north of Newman but I'm buggered if I can see it.

I tried those co-ordinates . They put me at the base of a jump up WNW of Newman . I could not see anything that looked like an impact site .

Is it easy to see ?

Thanks ,

Willie

PS . I am sure that it is my problem , not yours . I have had trouble with my GE before . I would give people co-ords , and they would say there was nothing there . Maybe my machine needs re-calibration or something .

Proceed north from Newman. One clear map section changes to another, slightly darker map section.

The crater is just into the beginning (bottom edge) of that new section.

Otherwise it's been swallowed up by that zipper you discovered.

Got it I think . A perfect circle except the SW has eroded away - Yes ?

I put a waypoint on that and the co-ords show as
23 2 13.46 S , 119 40 59.31
Are these co-ords wrong . If so my thingie is buggered . Very painful too, a buggered thingie .

Willie .

Yes, and you can overlay maps and image.
Maps seem a bit inaccurate in places. I think they may have been generated electronically from aerial photos via a rough scan.

actually Google Map and Google Earth are different..
One requires you to have the program loaded onto your PC and depending on if you stick with the free version or pay for registration you get various features. Google Map is part of your internet explorer and allows you to view map/topo or satleite photographyy but has different features to google earth.
Google earth for example allows you to import your GPS track and do a fly over of it and look at different features from different angles, eg you can actually drop down into the Grand canyon and look around as if you were below the horizon and look/fly up creek lines /rivers etc.. I don't think Google Map allows you to view in 3D and change your POC other then straight down from above.
