As I know this question will be asked with the upcoming tourist season, Yardie Creek is wide open at the mouth and impassable due to the heavy rain that has occurred in the area, depending on who you talk with locally we have recieved between 460mm to 800mm, there is a lot a water around at the moment and will take time to drain away.

We are expecting more at the end of this week.

According to BOM, Learmonth's received 258mm of rain over the last week.

Learmonth's around 30km away.

Learmonth is 35 klms south of Exmouth, in this sort of country that can make a hell of a difference in the amount of rain received, I sometimes question the accuracy of the BOM rain gauge, June 2002 on the public holiday we received 300mm in 16 hours, that didnt even rate a mention.

Plus where I work the the main antenna field at the top of the Cape is well and truly under water, 258mm would not create that sort of deluge and swamp the site.
