Oldsquizzy (Kununurra)

The road has been open to 15 tonnes and below for 5 days.
Have already picked up four wrecks. Two due to speed One not driving to conditions and one Fatigue.
Take your time, you are on holidays, Would love to meet a few of the members from on here, but not when I am driving a tilt tray !

Can you give us any idea as to what a typical recovery costs ?

Also, are the culprits usually overseas tourists or are they locals that should know better ?

Not wet or muddy..Dry, hard, corrugated. Speed is main cause on corners, The corners are either corrugated or sandy and at speed either one causes vehicles to go straight instead of turning and at the best of times the windrow is bl00dy close...Once you hit the windrow there are a variety of outcomes..None good.
From one end to the other floodways are abundant..Hit these to fast and you come out the other side with the car lightened and if you get ruts or rocks vehicle is redirected. It is usually correcting the redirection that leads to oops.. Very similar to overcorrecting a slide.
RAC roadside recommended recovery rate is 3.00 a klm on dirt. That doesn't mean that is what it will cost as the degree of difficulty can contribute to cost as well.
Bit like the better the dive the better the score.!

I just came back from Mt Barnett the other day and the road is in fantastic condition, just been graded but be carefull on all those loose rocks now, as Oldsquizzy said drive to the conditions and you level of experence. And the creeks are still wet so stay on the concrete floodways, i dont want to pull out another hire car from the creek!
