Most a/c compressors are lubricated by the freon gas in the a/c system. by running one as a tyre compressor you risk siezing it unless you fit an inline lubrication and oil recycling system. Basically this injects lubricant into the air intake, and then filters it out of the air outlet before it reaches your tyres. It can be set up to recycle the oil, so you don't use too much, but unless you're running air tools or pumping up your tyres a hell of a lot, you shouldn't use much oil anyway. Cheers, Alex.

Matt. So what! If you've got $350 plus plus plus to waste then go for it. I've ran an aircon compressor as an air pump (into a tank to 140psi) for the last 6 years, its never been a problem. Every now and then I give the compressor a couple of drops of teflon (engine oil additive).

Matt, haven't seen under a Pajero bonnet so don't have a clue. The info I have regards air con compressor is: Corona RT104, may be hard to find but is a twin piston pump with a sump so no problems with oil. Maybe easy to mount maybe not. Best of luck. John.
