beats, one of the Outback Challenge cars had a Ford 4.0l in his GQ so its definitely doable. Sounds like a good swap.

Pop in a RB30 "fixed" or even turbo'd (an easy 225kw)

Remember the RB30 is out of the Skylines,
Its little brother the RB26 won Bathurst in 91+92
Best of all, its actually designed to fit into a Patrol ;-)
(GU and GQ very similar)

Of course it would rev higher than the ford.

Before everyone reminds me that standard RB30s were a useless suffocated slug in the GQ, I should point out that they take very well to modifications and once air is rammed in and let freely out the back they go exceptionally well and may be easier to warm up and fit into the GU than the Ford.

Besides its almost sacreligious - Ford donk in a Nissan?

Just something else to be "thinkin about" beats

I think Bonz may know what I mean.

indeed I know that Ford ENGINES reign supreme, but that RB30 warmed over is amazing

Guess the Ford swap would be OK if it was into a Maverick? LOL ;-)

Try Marks Adapters, they can (and probably have) done everything

Beat me to it (Mark's adapters)

Late model F trucks also used a 4 speed auto so the transmission extension housing from one of them may help.

Cheers

Does anyone have or know what sort of economy the 4.0 ltr E-Gas gets in the Falcon RTV ute.
Thought it may be the go for towing a van (under 2300 KGs) instead of new crd 4x4.

Cheers Bruce
