We are looking to travel from Darwin to Perth for the first time. Any information that we can gain regarding the best time to do this trip would be appreciated. The two options that we are looking at are leaving fom Adelaide for Darwin mid April or late August then onto Perth.

Mick I would suggest you travel in the winter months - depends on how long you are planning to tavel for. Several years ago we did a 3 month trip - leaving Sydney at the end of June, going up thru inland Queensland to Darwin, thru the Kimberleys, down to Perth and the bottom of West Aust. The timing we did was good and only one night of rain - I would suggest looking at monthly rainfall and temperatures in the areas you intend to travel - this may help you to decide when to travel. Maybe the info is on this site even.
