Article Overview - Chambers Pillar
Chambers Pillar is a natural sandstone formation used by our famous early explorers as a navigational point. You can still read their signatures and inscriptions carved into the rock. It is also a beautiful photographic subject in a remote 4WD area. View Full Article...
out for an afternoon drive this afternoon saw us visit maryvale, after which we decided to go see chambers pillar at sunset and get a few pics. so after a few kilometers from maryvale on the chambers pillar road the road suddenly turns south and goes directly up the side of a mountain then across the top then directly straight down the other side. At the bottom of the mountain the track forks ,one south and the other west. both tracks are the same size and both tracks had tyre marks heading into them...now it was getting really close to sunset so we didnt chance exploring which track. climbing the hill again we got out and stretched our legs and could see chambers pillar in the background..
which track should i have taken south or west,or do both tracks join further down please ??? cheers.. Rod

yep, they join, so you should take the left one (assuming "kept left" road rules).

maybe there's another track, but as you come down the hill we took the left one and got to Chambers Pillar. On the way back I took the other track (left again coming back) and it came back to the same spot as the base of the hill where they joined. We thought it was a one way divided road!

Nige.

TY everyone for the help. we'll return soon, but a little earlier in the day next time,so we can sightsee and then see the sunset etc. The view from Mt Charlotte alone was worth the effort even tho we never made our target... cheers.. Rod
