ARB Side steps damaged my Rodeo

Submitted: Saturday, Aug 02, 2003 at 01:35

Leroy

Hi all you Rodeo owners,

I recently purchased some ARB side steps and after my first outing the Chequer plate that sits on the step kissed the sill! Worse still the tubes that go from the step and around the sill that bolt on to the chasis also hit the sill. It appears the body moves around on the chasis a bit more than what ARB have calculated!
Has anyone else had this problem? ARB seem to think the clearances were adequte. Any comments welcome.

Hi Leroy,

I spoke to ARB about mounting a solar cell onto my ARB canopy on my Hilux. They said no probs as long as its not a Rodeo as the tray moves around a heck of a lot in those trucks. They also said that there are 10mm gaps between the rear doors and the door jam due to body twisting.

So maybe the Rodeo twists a lot?

BTW I mounted the solar cell on the roof racks, even though its 7kg's a few hundred km's of corrugated roads i didnt wanna risk it.

cheers,

Glenn.

Hi Glenno,

I am aware of the amount of movement between the cab and tray. And am more aware since building racks for my tinnie. I don't have excessive gaps around my doors though.

I would of thought the solar panels would of been fine on the canopy. You can get roof racks for canopies with internal bracing that comes off the rim of the tub
