STEVE from a tyre warranty point of view I would doubt that they would honour any warranty even if it was a manufacturing fault with that stuff in the tyre.I know when people have bought tyres in that have a problem,if they have had that puncture seal stuff you buy a auto shops they will not even look at it.I would be asking for something in writting that it doesn't affect they tyre warranty.

I would guess that this works by injecting some compound through the
valve into the tyre. This then sets inside and provides another layer of
sealing. This may fill the tyre with solid foam.

"Never check tyre pressures" - I assume that the valve is also sealed - which
is no good for 4WD as we all know we are constantly in & out adjusting
pressures according to the track conditions!

"Increase tyre life" - well OK - if the correct tyre pressure is maintained for
the whole life - but see above - one single pressure does not suit all.

"Prevent blowouts" - the only tyre that will not blow out is a solid one - I doubt
that any extra layer or foam in the tyre will prevent a blowout once the
carcass of the tyre has been wrecked by a sharp rock.

Sounds like a crock of snake oil to me!

Hello all, especially the sceptics.

This sounds like a product, called OKO, I used in my motorcycle (Ducati 750) for years. It was a green liquid which prolonged life by keeping the temperature down, and then sealed punctures in the tubes on the go. Yes this was pre mags on bikes.

All I can say is that I never had a blow-out or flat in 10 years of many miles (about 30,000km a year) while my mates with identical bikes and tyres did. Many converted to OKO and it worked for them too. The worst any of us experienced was a 4" slash in the tyre which developed a slow leak as the resulting slash in the inner tube was 3" long so we had to limp the bike home. The OKO enabled the bike to be ridden slowly for 10km with just enough air pressure to prevent rim damage (Borranis are even more expensive now!) to the nearest service station where we discovered the damage to the tube. Had we known it was so extensive we wouldn't have tried the ride but replaced the tube by the roadside. But as it seemed to hold enough air we relocated to the convenience of the service station.

OKO also helped with the balance of the wheel for obvious reasons.

Suddenly in 1987 OKO disappeared from the market. The overseas manufacturer had benn bought out! I still don't know if it was by a tyre company.

If the stuff you are talking about is half as good its worth a try.

thanks for the response guys. Must admit, I'd never heard of it. I'll give 'em a ring on Monday (ask 'em about letting air out/in etc+warranties)and report back with their phone no.
