Removal of Red Mud Stains Camper Trailer

I have used a product called CT18 by Chemtech for years. Works on all types of surfaces and is does a great job. The longer that you leave it on, the better it works.

I will try the CT18 by Chemtech mentioned above to see how good it is.
I use Ranex (do a Google on it) Basically the red dust is iron oxide and the Ranex is Phosphoric Acid - I water it down and brush it on and hose off - cleans it like magic

wonder if CLR would get it off ...without doing any damage to the galvanising

Replace it with a new one ? :)

As Trekkie says, it is iron oxide, which is in effect rust.
So, it gets in the small pits in the surface and the discolouration will be there until you wash it all out.
Most people wash their vehicles pretty well after an outback trip, but not too many worry about cleaning under the bonnet.
There are many bush vehicles around with the red staining really baked on under the bonnet.
Keeping your car polished will help stop the red dust getting right into your paintwork.
The longer you leave your car with all the telltale red dust and mud on it, the harder it will be to get it all off.
So much for the posers who leave their vehicles for days or weeks covered with mud or dust to show they have been to the outback.

Best method I found for the hot dipped galv surfaces was a green scourer, cream cleanser and a heavy hand (not cheap cleanser either - the full strength stuff like JIF etc.)..... and a rubber glove is needed - not good for skin)......that worked well. There are rust neutralising concoctions but I didn't try them...... was concerned about contamination of surfaces that wouldn't agree with it.

Our Goldstream wind-up was looking very 'red' after several trips most of which was accumulated over a year ago. We hadn't washed it due to water restrictions as I wouldn't want to take it to a commerical car wash and blast it with a high pressure washer. After returning from a recent trip via my in-laws who don't have water restrictions, we washed it. Used a soft bristle brush to tease the dirt off the seams and other places the sponge wouldn't work. 3hrs later it looked almost like new, which pleased us greatly as we thought it would never come off.

Just take it on a dry sandy track like the Oodnadatta.
Mine got sandblasted and a lot of the red stain from the previous trip when I got caught in rain near White Cliffs was sandblasted off, as well as oil from a diff oil leak.

Learn to live with it and see it as a battle scar of having been there and done it.

alu-clean by cyndan is what to use
40-1 mix with water & scrubing brush comes back like new
its what i use at work to clean up 2nd hand trailers when back
from the centre or up north
i sell it to owners with the same problem $10 for 350ml
