Irvin's is a 2-post bullbar constructed using continuous sections of channel (145 x 8mm thick) and tubing (48mm x 4.5mm thick) with the least amount of stagger welds possible. Also includes a full width bar under the channel which protects the vehicles radiator, air conditioner components and steering arms
Irvin bar is also polished to a chrome like finish.

They're not like the flimsy factory alloy ones are they?
A mate hit a roo couple of weeks back in his 100 series with the fancy alloy job and damaged his front end quite badly so I would like to avoid this.
I thought my current bar was pretty bloody good but after six solid hits it's looking the worse for wear to say the least. Mind you I've not missed a beat and been able to continue on with minimal damage other than to the bar so a steel bar is a good practical alternative.

With the follow the vehicle shape type you can bash into them and they'll just go over the top!
Now what difference that'll make to the injuries I don't know except for no tyre tracks across the body.
ADR's are incomprehensible to many car manufacturers which is why a lot of different model vehicles aren't exported to Oz unless they can sell plenty of them to cover redesign costs.
Instead of constantly blaming 4bys for the damage, how about putting the blame squarely where it belongs for a change..... with the idiot that jumps or drives out in front of bigger vehicles without looking?

The addled thinking behind most of the legistlators and those that are supposed to police the laws, can be seen everywhere throughout Oz.
The big story in the local rag, The West Australian, yesterday, was the possibility of immediate suspension by the police, of driving licences for reckless or dangerous driving.
Part of the story told of police letting offenders go after issuing tickets for youths doing over 100kph more than the posted limit!
Personally I think they should look closely at the competence of the police instead of enacting more laws which adequately cover this sort of thing.
The same with 4bys and bullbars, why don't they accept that the accident was probably caused by stupidity in the first place not the lump of metal on the front, or because one vehicle is bigger than the other.
What's the cause of most accidents involving trucks .......... stupid car drivers pulling in front of them, but who/what gets the most attention from the media when a fatality occurs? All attention is on the truck because it squashed somebody and their car.
Trouble is we have far too many pollies for too small a population, and too many highly vocal, influential pressure groups all shouting for more amd more restrictions on anything they don't do or like others doing.
All gun owners know all about that, and 4by owners are right in the sights of the "Stop everybody doing anything brigade"!
There I go, that bee in me bonnet came right out then!

Not too interested in ADR compliance as it's not really an issue yet and there's no way they can make it retrospective so I'm covered for a purchase today. Not too many pedestrians where I come from either and I haven't hit one in years. I have however hit 6 roos in past 3 years (as well as 3 near misses of Braham Bulls) and what concerns me is my crew's safety and not that of anyone elses. The leaning forward look doesn't actually protrude past the bumper section which also does make it compliant I believe.
Irvin Bullbars, from what I've read, are part of the council trying to sort out a national standard for Bull Bars at present so I'm sure they're up with the times.
