hi i was wandering if any one can help i have recently got four new tyres installed Bridgestone D694 after two weeks i noticed the two front tyres are sclopping on the outside edges . i went straight back to the bridgestone tyre centre .i thought it was a bad wheel alignment . he said that everything was in spec except f or the caster readings + 0.58 +0.49 spec is 3d to 4 d
it needed a castor kit installed because OLD MAN EMU 50mm lift kit installed BY ARB . I immediately went back to ARB and told them about the problem . Arb said that it didn't need the castor kit installed because it would not sclopped the tyres like that it only lifts the diff up and down not affecting tyre wear. i don't know what to do can someone give me advice please , should i get a castor kit installed or not ??

Same thing happened to my best mate with a 50mm ARB lift on his rig. Very quickly started scalloping outside edges of brand new BFG A/T's. ARB said he didn't need a castor kit but he stuck to his guns and they eventually fitted a the kit and what would you know.....problem solved. I have also heard that if your front shocks are on the way out, this can also cause scalloping (source - Wombat 4x4 Ringwood).

Have a snoop on the Patrol website. Bound to be some info there.

Cheers

I agree with Mick, you might also look at King pin bearings, tie rod ends & control arm bushes, the GU front ends are fussy that way.

I just repaired the above mentioned items to mine at 190000km and it feels like a new car now, as well as less stress to tyres.
Cheers Colin.

I got mine lifted with the 2 inch Old Man Emu springs by fourbys and they said definitely fit the castor kit of which I did at the time and have had no troubles at all with tyres scalloping.

The GU is very fussy, and in my view though ARB says it doesn't need the kit and no doubt they are right, I find it benefits from it. Also make sure all parts are in good condition as indicated by others above.
