Three weeks to do the Kimberly from
Melbourne then to Arnhem land for 10 days ??? That is what several tag-a-long groups do. 90 km/h plus all the way.
Take note the speed limit on the
Gibb River road is 80 km/h for a reason.
1. To try to keep the gravel road in reasonably condition
2. To try and stop idiots killing themselves.
3. To keep the dust down
We were up there 2 years ago and were stoped off the road having a cuppa, when these 3 vehicles towing trailers went by low flying.
Finished the cuppa and started off again about 10km down the road was a hell of a mess. One of the group that passed us had had a blow out. It turned out that the second vehicle had the blow out and the third vehicle couldn't see what happened in front and plowed into the one in front shoving it into the scrub. Very lucky no one was seriously injured. Two vehicle write offs though.
Suggest you spend more time in the Kimberly and do Arnhem land next year. It is a rugged and beautiful place if you spend the time to look around.
No you dont need a
snorkel, however would definately put one on.
1. Less dust up top.
2. Rain, normally not but you never know up there.
Dont forget a spare air cleaner element. Once again you may never need it.
Have fun.
