I had one of these old girls, 2.8D, was reliable as and sold it with 300k on it. I was in the same position as you and found it very guttless for highway driving, would p i s s me off going up hill and overtaken by a loaded b double LOL. My answer is dont turbo it, fit a good quality set of extractors get the pump recalibrated to make sure its set write, also add a 2 1/2 inch exhaust from the extractors through. You will gain a bit more low down pull, but top speed maybe an extra 5 to 10 k max but soon as you hit a hill you will be back through the gears. The main issues I have heard with people getting the 2.8's turboed is over heating issues, and seems more overheat then not, so myself decided I wanted reliabilty not speed, but know where your coming from. Make sure the oil and filter is done maximum every 5k if not these motors are known for clagging up, leave it till 10k and the oil will be like glue and by then it will have started to do damage to the internals. I did like yourself asked a million questions when thinking of adding turbo and with replys (mainly from here) and other
places decided against it. If you do decide to get it done get it done by a reputable company. Best of luck WHG
