Graham,

Not good news for those involved. Pretty much goes with what I was saying in my post re the Economic Downturn and the Lesiure Industry.

Also supported by information from my cousin who manages a European Luxury Car Sales Business; the arse has fallen out of sales.

Interesting in the latest edition of BRW an article about how people are still spending, but have moved their discretionary spend down in the market eg O/S Holidays have declined yet Caravan Parks are experiencing increased business.

Cheers,

Jim.

What's worse is the item further down the page.

Aussie Wide Caravans did a planned closure, finishing off the orders and winding up without leaving a trail of debtors then the owner, his wife (in their 30's) and their two primary school age kiddies are all killed in the fires at KingLake.

That is just bad, just so bad, it beggars belief.

When you read that about Aussie Wide doing the right thing and having his and his families lives end this way.Compared to the scum that close up and take alot of people with them, where is the justice in this world. Some times i wonder if there is a greater power out there or not.
cheers shane.

As it has been stated, there is a serious downturn in the leisure vehicle market.

People are buying with the brains obviously.

Being a former Roadstar owner, I'm not that surprised, they didn't do much to enhance their themselves & their customer service after the sale was poor. Though the van was well constructed, the fit out workmanship left a bit to be desired.

For example, a door to the shower/toilet came adrift shortly after purchase, at Eucla. I had it fixed in Esperance, cost $26, and they quibbled about it. Wanted me to go to a Roadstar agent in Albany. Also, the roof leaked, a gas leak caused LPG to enter into the cupboards under the stove and exploded, not seriously but gave ny wife one hell of a fright & that was the evening after we took delivery of it. They didn't even vacuum the wood shavings & sawdust off the floor in the cupboards.

I own a Jayco now, not a problem since delivery 3 years ago.

Still, it's a shame to see another manufacturer go to the wall.

Dick

Interesting comment Dick.

Businesses that ride the gravy train and develop an arrogant attitude are the first to go.

Jayco, big as they are, have an excellent reputation for customer service.

Cheers,

Jim.

Correct me if I am wrong, but was the ex president of the RVMAA also the M.D. of Road Star and the same person that stood up and said to me in writing that Boroma was one of the best manufacturers in the membership base of the RVMAA.

Just goes to show that now they are both out of bussiness and those RVMAA members still operating may in my opinion follow in the foot steps of the upper echelon of this organisation.

Shame you got caught.

However if they were trading when insolvent you may have legal redress against them.

Hardly called for and no I didnt tell you anything but put up a post that came from within the industry that they were supposedly in trouble and asked if anyone could confirm it.

Shortly after that there was a post which I cant find about someone flying to Melbourne to buy a Roadstar. I maybe mistakenly thought it was you.

No I dont feel big and I said it was a shame you got caught.

Just cos you did, dont give me a hard time as I was trying to get some facts which may have prevented that happening.

You obviously had time to come on here and read the thread.

If you go to the link I provided and scroll down and open the January page you will see that i was not the only one to hear about it.
