Yep. My cruiser started to run too hot and this was the problem.

Ditto - what a valuable bit of info!
CMI / Toyota told me that it can not be done, but - wait for it - they could sell me the silicon to do it!
My Service Guy said give it to me, and <$100.00 later I had a "Brand New Fan" and cooling problems solved. CMI wanted near $500.00 for a replacement fan!

Funnily enough I was in the midst of getting told the same thing when a young female apprentice mechanic was walking past a few years back in kalgoorlie. She brushed past the guy trying to sell me a new fan and told me all you have to do is seperate the 2 hub peices and refill it with the gel

Is It the same for a 4.5 twin cam in a 100 series it has a green fan hub

Not sure, but I beleive it's only the set point that varies.
