will be heading across to w.a. in a couple of months and wish to do plenty of fishing all the way north of perth. would love to here from anyone with ideas of what size tinnie we would need to be able to head off shore a bit , but not into wide open waters, and what to expect in the months of june , july and august in terms of weather and fish !. also the waters around denman and carnarvon , are they as protected from bad weather as they appear and if so is the fishing good there in the winter

inshore waters,10 - 12 ft tinnie, preferably deep hull, 6 - 15hp. prevalent weather june, july, august is mild unless a nw blows in!
always preferred winter for boating in perth for the mild weather and good fishing, but can be chilly (read bl__dy cold!)
Please be aware that WA now has mandatory small craft licenceing and any thing over 6hp requires this.
Usual safety precautions are available from DPI or boats and harbours.
north of perth (lano, jurien, etc.) can really fire for the small stuff just offshore this time of year - lost of inshore reef (read big green back winter tailor and fat herring)
Western angler website and FWA website will give you the basics.
