Article Overview - Caravan Interior
The interior of a caravan can provide a feeling of comfort and satisfaction as long as this space is utilised wisely. Manufacturers know this and that’s why they carefully design interior layouts with this in mind. View Full Article...
Hi all. Visited the Caravan & Camping Show today at Rosehill Racecourse (Sydney) and found that as I'm 6' 2" tall, about the only caravans I could stand up in are the pop-tops.
I'm afraid I could not bare to stoop all the time, so it looks like it might have to be a pop-top.
Any other tall guys have a problem? Thanks.

The only viable option is to talk to a custom builder. I specified the ceiling height in my Trakmaster to be 1980mm and the bed is 6'8" (yes, I like to mix metric and imperial).

I'm staggered by what you say...

I'm a shortarse I know but 6' 2" isn't unusually tall is it..??? I mean, even the scrumhalves in the Wallabies are over 6' these days.., (Josh Holmes, Brumbies is 6' 3")....how would the second rowers ever own a van if you have to stoop...??? They are all 6' 8"...!!!

Anyway, my nephew is around 6' 2" and didn't stoop in my Jayco. I may be wrong but I thought the ceiling height in most vans was close to 7'. The only area that is lower in some vans is where you have a sloping front with a north/south bed, but you are not walking or standing in that area.

Hi,
I am 6'3" and we have a Billabong Broometime 2 caravan. I have no problem walking around in it. I don't why but I always duck whenever I walk under the Ibis air command air cond, but in reality I shouldn't have to as there is about 12mm clearance to the unit when I do walk under it. I would certainly recommend you check out the Billabong vans at www.billabongvans.com.au you will be pleasantly surprised.

I am 5'17 1/2" tall (6'5 1/2" for the young fella's) & I purchased a Viscount (no longer available) where they increased the height so I can stand up in it plus made the bed long enough so my toes did not stick out. I had to pay extra but at the time most of the other manufacturers would do the same thing at a cost.
Unfortunately if you are tall you have to pay for it unlike the vertically challenged

Hello ????
I'm 6'5" tall and I bought a pop top van because it was the only van I could stand up in. In a full van - I tried scores of them on - I hit my head on both the airconditioner cowling or the overhead lights. Another problem with most full vans was that when I sat on the diner seat/lounge, invariably the overhead cupboards were a danger to me. There's more .........I found that in most vans with a front kitchen or overhead cupboards, I couldn't bend over to wash the dishes. The pop top I bought had a side kitchen.

I now have an Aussie Swag camper which fits me well ! Have you considered a camper trailer ?

Cheers,
Netnut

As I am 6ft 10 in I have gone through this exersize . We ended up with a Jayco Heritage poptop 6'11" headroom (standard) and the cupboards are high enough that they dont hit you in the back of the head when you sit down. Also some other poptops have a low headroom entry door . The Heritage we have has single beds and one is longer for me (standard) we found that the wider space between the beds is better for a couple of bigger people than the narrow spaces on each side of a double bed. Went for a split system aircon to avoid the intrusion of roof unit ( dont think its as good but no head banging) Surprised that you can find a full caravan to suit ,I found a large number of vans that I could almost stand up in (missed by ---that much) lots around 6'4". I am currently looking for a full van 21' ensuite , will probably go Evernew as most of these fiberglass vans cant offer extra height . We go away for up to 9 mths at a time so the Jayco did well.
