I think our Ultimate is fantastic but I also think the Tvan is fantastic....

We have done some extrerme stuff with our Ultimate but I konw of Tvans that have done the same.

Both have more good points then bad points.

Kevin is the only one how can decide.

For the dough either of those cost, one could purchase a very comfortable Caravan for the majority of trips and an Off Road Camper for the hard core stuff.

Those you have mentioned are a compromise, and a very expensive one.

We have a TrakShak (for sale) thats a brillant camper but there is no comparing with our Ultimate Camper, they are like chalk and cheese and yes we do have better trips in our Ultimate.

Why did we get an Ultimate...because we can.

Make a list of pro's and cons eg tvan has probobly less headroom in the bed area but then you dont have to make it every stop ultimate has seats and i think fridge and kitchen inside, tvan outside fridge in car. Both are good , I have a tvan and love it.

We have owned a Tvan since 2003 and are very happy with its different options when camping.
We (2 adults). rarely use the annex and quite often only open up the back, fit the fly screen and that's it. for longer stays the tent area only takes minutes to erect.
Been to Cape York twice,The Gulf,Tasmania and Kangaroo Island to name a few and Tuesday we are heading for the Kimberly's via Lake Eyre,Mount Dare and Binns Track to Timber Creek then the Gibb River Road ie mostly dirt roads
Taking new shocks and spare bearings just in case but have every confidence in the Tvan.
If you have any questions better make it quick as only 3 sleeps to go.
Most Ultimate owners are just as passionate and either way you can't go wrong.

Both are excellent "compromises" (really Jim-BOR?). I enjoy the Ultimate because it is the best of both camper trailer/caravan worlds. Indoor lounge and cooking or choose to do it all out side, I have added an external bbq, plus it has lots of storage. I chose not to go for Tvan because you don't have the option to choose out of the weather accomodation, very quick for an overnight stop though. But it is pretty limited to a climb into bed/cook outside situation.
Think about how you spend time around the camp, cooking/eating/dishes time and whether or not you camp in inclement weather. That should give you a direction.

All the power, water, dust sealing issues are pretty much the same. The quality on both is terrific. Suspension systems are proven tough and reliable.

Both are good investments, 2nd hand ones of each are still holding their value really well.

The option to do it all indoors comfortably swayed me to the Ulti.
