Rims 100S IFS

Submitted: Sunday, Jun 28, 2009 at 23:09

BradW

Gday All,

I am chasing some steel rims for my 04 100s IFS Petrol. I have heard there are some "after market" and for want of better words "FAKES" floating around.

Anyone have any info on this....Which rims are the harder to get etc? Are there fakes, poor quality / crap / traps to avoid? I have been doing some searching online today and not getting anywhere in finding much for sale.

Cheers

Brad

Hi Brad,
eBay you'll get the genuine Toyota article in 16x8 steel and for IFS if your feeling generous you'll pay about $50 each.

Or even the local Trading Post is a good source of these rims. I could have had dozens of them recently for next to nothing but I think the tyre dealer has sold them for scrap value.

You should really get the genuine article for less than $50 each as there are a lot of this style around but very few for the rigid front end.

Tell this bloke he's dreaming: IFS Rims

These,

Or these,

Or these,

Or this one,

Are all reflecting the true market value of secondhand IFS rims for Landcruiser 100 Series. There was a bloke over this way trying to flog on eBay half worn Mickey Thompsons on IFS rims for more than the recommended retail price of the tyres.

He never did get a bid!

Cool - I think I saw all of these last night too. At least now I have some idea on true $ value.

I have one ebay seller giving me a price on courier from east to WA, and in meantime I am chasing my own freight costs but ideally if I can find in Perth would be much easier.

FYI I just called Mr Toyota = $155ea.

In the Adelaide area, Just Wrecking Toyota's [ www.justwrecking.com.au / 150 South Tce / Wingfield SA 5013 / (08) 8359 4499 ] seem to have no trouble in stocking very good quality rims for my 05 / 100 ... but T diesel in my case (a different offset to petrol). I bought one rim - he had more ....$110.
There are plenty for the diesel in Melbourne too - had them fitted to my new caravan - the manufacturer said they were easy to get .... might be the same for petrol too. Could ID that supplier if you need it.

I'll keep you in mind in case I run into hassles. I am in Perth so suspect shipping from east would sting too much to make it worthwhile.

As noted above I'll chase up when Im in town next. Just really wanted to know the traps and which ones were more valuable.

Thanks for the info.

Yep - the factory rims are probably strong as hell - they look it - they weigh like it too ! BTW - at one stage I was thinking of shipping 5 wheels from Adel. to Melbourne for the van (not necessary in the end) - Sadleirs quoted about $140 all up as I recall....... might not cost the earth, to Perth. Whatever.
