I just paid for an Air Compressor from this mob through Paypal ( fortunately maybe ) - They are not replying to emails or answering the phones -

Does anyone know if they are still in business ?

I have this bad feeling ....

Just don't want to contact Paypal Service Centre just yet but ....

Anyone else bought anything recently from them ?

Cheers

Dont know too much about them but looking t the prices they are by no means cheap.
$292 for Polyairs for a 100 ser
I paid $240 at Repco for mine
Stauns can be bought for less than that as well as can the Cargo Barriers

You have to wait a certain time before lodging a Paypal complaint as well
If you paid by credit card you can do a chargeback up to 60 days after getting your statement but you will incur the wrath of Paypal who dont allow you to do that.

However I did, got suspended and after several strong emails got reinstated.

The reason being by waiting for the stuff to come from overseas put it outside the time that Paypal give you to lodge a complaint.

Steve have a look at that link it now says...........

4x4 Store Australia is closed
St George bank has stopped the merchant facility and frozen our bank account due to their view that our charge backs of late is in excess. They are investigating, and this has been in process for a few weeks now. This has effectively closed down the store as we cannot order stock or issue refunds.

This has of course made it worse as everyone is now asking their credit card company to cancel their transaction.

Please do not leave us a message but call Leanne from St George on 08 8424 7074 for further information.

If you paid through PayPal, then you can go to your PayPal account, if they havent accepted your money yet you can go in a withdraw the payment until you can make contact with them.

Steve, I just rang them. Their recorded message said they were busy catching up with backorders (I know THAT feeling).

I wouldn't panic yet. I'd be inclined to ring the dude tomorrow if you don't get a response.

Cheers

Have'nt hit the DEFCON RED button yet but its been 4 days now that I have had no reply to emails and that phone message ...

Even if he's a one man show he should still be able to ping email reply -

Takes 5 secs ro reply - " Flat out will forward goods in 2 days " !!

Anyway Paypal resolution centre has been alerted to try and contact him ..

See what happens ...

Stay tuned folks ..

I tried to order som bits a while ago. Lucky I didn't pay up front. Finally got a response that they were out of stock, and would contact me when they came in and to pay then.
Never contacted me again and lost the sale.

Hi,

I have been away on a Drive4Life trip escorting some people with disabilities around the outback.

Toyota supplied 12 new 4WD vehicles, fuel and accommodation. IGA supplied the food.

The Kids really enjoyed the experience and you can see a trip report I started while away here:

http://forums.overlander.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=61346

It appears that nothing has been done while we were away, no orders filled, no stock ordered, not even the message on the website stating the office would be closed.

As you might imagine I have a serious backlog of orders to do which will take some time to sort out.

Sorry about the delay and I thank you for your patience and understanding.

Cheers,

Shane Gerrish

Its all very well telling you that hes back but a better idea would be to put a

message on the phone BEFORE he goes saying hes away for X number of days.

Also a message can be put on the website saying the same.

I have seen that from other Ebay sellers including our own Derek.

I suppose which is more important, his charity work or his customers whose

business supports his ability to do the charity work.

As his prices arent very competitive i would buy elsewhere.

Steve,
If it helps any, I know of Shane Gerrish and I'm certain he isn't the sort of bloke who will rip you off. I also know he gets extremely busy with his business and personal pursuits.

If you haven't heard from him in the next few days, let me know via MM and I'll pop up there, Ormeau is about half an hour from me.

Cheers

Brian

Thanks Tezza ,

Looks like he is over ordered and has refunded my money rather than waste time sending the article which he possibly didnt have in stock -

No matter - I got my money and will buy from
elsewhere now .

I ordered some mats from this company and had not heard from them for over 2 weeks no emails no phone calls to say items were delayed etc , So i contacted paypall dispute centre and by next day a full refund ,I would have prefered a call saying items were delayed etc, Very poor service and i would not purchase from them again

That's pretty poor service service/organisation though. You'd think he would have someone else to manage the business while he went off.

Hi all. A bit more to this story. I ordered some driving light covers at the beginning of the month. I paid by Visa, which was promptly charged.

I let it go for a couple of weeks, before trying to contact them yesterday.

Apparently they are no longer in business, there is a poor explanation their web site, and that the business is for sale.

Bottom line is they took my money, and I have nothing to show for it! Not Happy...

I have tired to contact them without success, so I am currently looking at some other option to recoup my loss.

It's not a big loss, but it's the principle, of taking someone money in good faith and not delivering.

I hope not too many people were stung by this operator.

Cheers,

Greg

You wont lose your money .

Do a chargeback through Visa and you will get your money back.

Ive had the same trouble, not with this seller and got repaid.

This is the message that appears on the 4x4 Store website.

Unfortunately the given details are incorrect. I attempted to contact "Leanne from St George" (The number is on the web site), but was told that she no longer works there.

Thanks Graham H. I did contact my bank, and it looks like the funds will be reversed. I have also contacted the office of fair trading QLD.

Cheers,

Greg
