Hi I am in Portland Oregon USA

I have had my Waeco CDF-40 for almost 4 years. Lately it does not want to operate in my truck when its over 90. I can get the compressor to kick on and then it kicks back off. No red error light, just a solid green. If I unplug it and then try to plug it in later 'say about 30 min' it wil work and then shut off. The funny thing is if its not a warm day it will run just fine in my truck. So today I decided to use some compressed air and blow around the vents. Its over 90 and today it did run for about 35 or 45 min before it went back to the green light and no run and no error light. I have yellow top battery and heavy cables and short run. It will run fine when its coolor this week say in 70s or 80s. I am out of warrenty. Any ideas????????????????????????????

The compressor turns off after it gets to a certain temperature....does your Waeco indicate the temperature...is it set too HIGH ?

I set mine on -1 and when I turn it on I run the TURBO and it cools very quickly...then the compressor turns off....and then back on again when the temp drops.

I can put it all the way to freezer mode and still it will not work right. Today in Portland is in high 90 degree mark and Waeco is at 80 deg. I am thinking it may just be really dirty inside the unit. It works just fine when portland is below 80 degree. I think it has to work extra hard on hot days and it overheats inside and then shuts down. Because I did do compressed air around the vents and it made a little improvment today.

Not sure with the 40 but my 50 has a fan obviously to keep the condensor cool, maybe the fan has bleep its self and the fridge is cutting out due to the compressor etc over heating ??? Other then that it might be a trip to the fridge mechanic...My'n will operate no problems at 40c+ Will easliy hold -14 as a freezer............Regards Steve

I do feel some air flow from one of the vents and its warm. Its always been warm. Do you think i can replace the fan or clean the fan or a fuse for the fan? As I said on days that are not so hot my fridge works perfect.

Sounds like it's not getting rid of the condenser heat and it's tripping on high refrigerant pressure. I don't know the actual fridge, but suggest you pull it apart as much as you can (or need to) to really clean out any dust and dirt, especially from the actual condenser coil itself. Also, as already suggested, check to see if the condenser fan is operating (if it has one??). Finally, make sure you get plenty of air circulation around the fridge and don't keep it in an enclosed space as the condenser air will simply recirculate and get hotter and hotter, eventually causing it to trip out.

Hope you sort it out...
Cheers

Hi This is an update. I did take the cover off the fridge and blew compressed air and cleaned the fan and other areas very well. I did blow a lot of dust out. Today is the first hot day and I did get it down to 35 degrees but for the first time I am getting an error code other the 1 flash.

I am getting 3 flashes every 5 seconds.

anyone know what to do now?

I know that one flashe means its in battery cut out

Thanks so much for all the help so far

Hi another quick update

So with the error light flashing at 3, the unit would not turn on. I know it was in this error state for about 30 min and then i decided to turn the unit off for about 30 min. I turned it back on and the compressor kicks on just fine and no error code flashes.

Any ideas? what to do now?

Thanks

What does it mean if the error light is flashing on CCF/CF range? We have detailed the Danfoss compressor quick guide below. In the case the electronic unit records an operational error light on the CCF/SE and CF range. The number of flashes depends on what kind of operational error was recorded. Each flash will occur 1/4 second. After the actual number of flashes, there will be a delay with no flashes, so that the sequence for each error recording is repeated every 5 seconds. Once you have recorded the Red Flashes use the guide below. Number of Red Flashes Danfoss BD35/50 Kompressor

Guide Red Flash Guide TypeOne Flash Can be caused by:• Insufficient cable size• Too many connections• Poor connections• Not designating fridgewith own direct circuitfrom battery Battery Protection Cut-Out If the error light on your fridge flashes once every 5 seconds, it is definitely indicating that you have a voltage drop problem. This means that the wiring in your car may be inadequate to carry the correct amount of volts to the fridge. To test if this is the problem, plug the fridge into a suitable AC adaptor. If you find that the fridge works, you can eliminate that there is a problem with the fridge and the car wiring configuration or plug connections should be stringently checked. We recommend car/motorhome/caravan wiring to be a minimum of 6-8mm cross section wire for up to 4 metres. Above this length the wiring would need an extra millimeter for every metre. If the fridge does not work on the correct Waeco AC Adaptor, further investigation is required. Contact Waeco if this occurs.

Two Flashes Fan over current cut-out If the fan circuit in the control module has a load in excess of 0.5 Amps, the system will fail.

Three Flashes Motor Start Error If your error light is flashing three times every 5 seconds, the rotor may be blocked or the differential pressure in the refrigeration system is too high. Faulty compressor or faulty control module.

Four Flashes Minimum Motor Speed Error This failure occurs if the compressor is running slower than 1850 rpm.

Five Flashes Thermal cut-out of electronic unit If the error light is flashing five times every 5 seconds, the refrigeration system has been too heavily loaded, or if the surrounding temperature is high, the electronics will run too hot. This is generally caused by not allowing enough ventilation around the vents of your fridge. To overcome this, simply ventilate your fridge more effectively.
