Article Overview - Inside Track
The Inside Track was gazetted as a public road on 16th January 2002 and provides an alternative route that is also 35km shorter than the main Birdsville Track. View Full Article...
Has anyone got current info on the Birdsville INSIDE track (Thats the one west of the Diamantina river)?

It is currently listed as Closed (August 2/09) due to flooding, and I find that hard to accept as other tracks nearby are all open. Maybe it's because of past flood damage that has not yet been repaired, that I could understand.

Any recent (June, July & August 09) 1st hand info would be welcomed.
Colin.

Not 1st hand info (more a 'general knowledge' thing;-)), but wiith water still coming down Eyre Creek, I suspect that the Goyder's Lagoon floodplain will be under water for a while yet, and while there's water there, you won't get through the Inside Track...

Thanks Ed
I did not think the creek would be still running. Makes sense though.
Cheers Colin.

Colin - have a look at thread 71194 in which Ruth advises that the inside track is closed due to flooding and looks like it will be closed for some time.

Water still flowing down the Warburton last week.
