Sandy Blight Junction Road Feedback

SBJT is awefully corrugated from Tjukurla Access up to Kintore. There are a few good campsites along the trek but its not worth doing this trek a second time.

I agree about the corrugations, though they are mostly on the long straight section that runs for about 40 km south of Mt Leisler to the first dune.

I must be missing something. I've driven the SBJT at least a dozen times and I still yearn to go back.

Mostly it is the isolation. Then there is the varying terrain- dune country with desert oaks, the SFR, the Davenport Range, the Mu Hills.

When I sit in my office, tired, bored and stressed, and I imagine where I might prefer to be, the SBJT is one of a few places that come to mind: the red earth, the white gums perching on the crumbling rock walls, the hidden valleys, the blue sky, the air whispering in the desert oaks, the views from the top of the SFR where you can almost see the coast in any direction.

I wonder what it would be like sitting out there right at that moment, a landscape unchanged for thousands, if not millions of years. Suddenly, the trivia of daily work and city life seem very inconsequential.

Crikey, its all I can do to not go and fuel up and head out right now.

Can't agree, I'm afraid! We were there in July this year and loved it completely. If there were corrugations - we can;t remember them but that might be because we nearly shook apart on the Canning a couple of weeks later. Suggest you give it another try - take your time. We certainly would love to repeat the journey.
