Just wondering if the power outlet socket at the back of the Landscruiser wagon is able to connect to the Anderson Plug on the Caravan to run the 12v fridge while driving? Any advice will be greatly appreciated....many thanks..

Con,

Are you meaning the cig lighter power outlet in the rear cargo area? If so - this is too light - most people have trouble using this to run a Waeco in the back.

The best plan is to go straight from the battery (with fuse or circuit breaker) to the rear of the car using a heavy duty cable to minimise voltage drop. I ran the cable in split shielding and then into the chassis rail to the rear with an anderson plug. No problems.

I guess you are talking about a LC100. Where did you enter the chassis rail and exit it? Any difficulties getting through?

I currently run external alongside the chassis rail not happy with this though.

I also run through an ignition switched relay so it only works with the engine on. One of the leads to the wiper motor is ignition switched.

Cheers

G-N-G,

Yep - talking about the 100 Series - I entered the chassis rail just near the bellhousing and exited as far back as possible. It was a bit of a challenge but with some soft fencing wire for a chaser it worked ok - wear goggles though - heaps of debris etc falls in your face :-)

The cable runs from a smart solenoid from my aux battery - after seeing Derek's diagram I think I'll go over to a breaker - much better than fusible links and fuses etc. (and mines linked to the wiper motor too)

Hi Con

NO !

Best you run dedicated cables, isolator or relay, breakers and then the plugs.

The diagram below shows an option to take power off this dedicated cable for other accessories in the back of the car. If you plan to only run the van fridge you can drop the size of the 50A breaker under the bonnet to 20A.

I ran a 4 B&S cable from Auxilary battery thru a 60amp resetable fuse along top

of r/h chassis rail Cable tied to existing loom already there.

Used same size earth wire onto chassis bolt

Dont need relays etc that way and it has run fridge over nite OK
As we travel everyday battery gets charged OK
