HI all
We are looking at one of the Dingo Crackerjack camper trailers. Has anyone had any experience with them at all. Its a basic 7 x 4 off road, 12' tent 2 x jerry can holders and 1 gas ring. I would like to know how they are to set up in relation to other brands. We are also looking at a Scapha alloy trailer. Any info or advice would be appreciated

We had a Dingo off road for basically 8 years and really enjoyed it. Jack (the owner) will talk the legs off a table but haven't seen him in over 12 mths. He has been in the trade a long, long time & I think his son may have taken over. The trailer we had was built by Australian Trailers and was good strong checkerplate The canvas was 12 & 10 oz. How much are you spending would be the big question. If you have a look around there are some really good makes. There is a company in Campbellfield called Red Rock Camper Trailers a friend just bought an off the back soft floor with everything $13,750. I have seen it and could not find one fault with it. I spoke to the owner & he is a very pleasant man to talk to. I wouldn't go alloy on a off road trailer they damage to easily just like an alloy bull bar good to hang d/lights & aerials off but that's it. You need good strong aussie steel for off road touring. IMO

Had a Dingo for about 10 years. Good value for money. BUT. (This may not still be the same). One of the ways they had cut costs was to turn the canvas under the wooden base and fasten it with lots of staples. This is pretty poor. Makes any canvas repairs virtually impossible. The tent should fasten to the base via sail track type runner so the tent can easily be removed from the base.

Don't omit Tambo - when buying I found their quality better than Dingo and the old man at Dingo was nothing but an arrogant, self absorbed idiot - "P155 off, I don't do catalogues, go look at all the other 5h1t out there then come back and we'll talk business" Hope his son runs the place a little better...

I brought mine from a mate and we are both very happy with it. Mine is the 14' option and great.
I put corner tarps on the awning to give protection for the kitchen at the back of the trailer which is great in bad weather.
We stay in one spot for two weks at Easter and have got over 200mm of rain in the last two years with no issues for us.
I also like the way the canvas over the bed is cut at an angle away from the bed and acts as an awning in its own right.

Hi wilco318
As a happy owner of a Tambo Camper I think you might find them better value.
You should have a look at them.

I'm in the "game" in Melbourne.

I deal with many Camper Builders. You'd do a lot better dealing with Dean at Westlat (Ballarat) or Keith at Tambo. They're both honest, decent blokes.

Hi all

I ent down today and had a look at Dingo, Tambo and Outback campers. Yes the guy at dingo is shall we say, different and, they still staple to canvas to the base board. The trailers themselves are very well made ( well finished ). Tambo have a 6 month wait and Outback 7 - 8 weeks. Of these 2 the Tambo seems to be a little better value but the Outback does have the advantage of Alko torsion bar suspension and gas struts on the tent section.
