Hi,
We live in the SE corner of NSW and have a 1984 13ft Viscount Grand Tourer with single beds. We have found the original foam mattresses uncomfortable and were given some innerspring mattresses a few years back. The latter causes 'spring' indentations on the body and offers little back support! They sit on a solid particle board base.
Anyone know where can purchase or get a mattresses made up? Should we go back to foam? We both like a firm mattress. The single beds are different sizes as one is smaller in length and width.
Suggestions welcome!

Just had a look through the
Canberra Yellow Pages - there is at least one mattress manufacturer there and plenty of suppliers of either inner spring or foam mattresses. Suggest a trip to an outlet that has a range of mattress types available for testing to decide what you want.
FWIW we have a foam mattress in the back of our Troopy (on a particle board base) and it is very comfortable, though can be a bit on the warm side in hot weather. Its also easy to change bedding etc as it is quite light to handle.
Val.

FWIW i got rid of the foam matt out of our van and put a n inner spring in it-best thing i did to that and in the C/T i bought a
Dunlop high density foam mattress-bloody fantastic mattress. it gets used everywhere as a spare bed.

High density foam (green stuff) have used them in all my yatchs, over 30 years, in our camper trailer and now in our 32 year old Viscount and of course on our bed at
home. Inner springs might have in proved these day but I can not go past the foam, as I said high denisty, if you like a little soft get them to put 2 inchs of low density on top of 4 inch high d

We have recently purchased 2 mattress's from these guys. Excellent quality, service and most importantly - we now get an excellent nights sleep. We bought them unsighted and untested, delivered to the door. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Ditto for Made to Measure mattresses, excellent service and we sleep better in the rooftop with innerspring than anywhere else

Our caravan (2nd hand) came with an approx. 5cm latex mattress overlay. Incredibly comfortable on a standard foam mattress. As comfortable if not more, than our quite expensive mattress at
home.

Made to Measure Mattresses do stuff specifically for vans and CTs; with extra venting and reinforcing on the walls. We got the top model for our CT and it's quite firm and better for my back than the one in the
home.

Thanks folk for all the suggestions - will
check out the high density foam and get a quote from made to measure mattresses. Also liked the tip re the latex overlay as that is just what we need for our night and day divan at
home!

Clarks Rubber are worth looking at too - good website. I live 3 hrs away from "local" store and they did phone orders too.
We have inner sprung in our CT which I couldn't cope with so now have egg shell overlay which goes onto spare bed when CT not in use. So comfy now it matches up to our expensive latex option on main bed!

Looks like a trip to nearest store to check them all out!

Me mate has just purchased two single bed mattresses for his van
They can be made to any size and shape , only restricted by the coil diameter
He took his measurements with him
He could have got the cheapest single bed mattresses for $125 each
but settled for the ones with a built in overlay , a couple of inches thick for $225 each
If you visit the factory you can try before you buy , not overnight
he purchased them from
Just Relax Mattress factory outlet
14 Lagana Place Wetherill Park , NSW
02 97574450
He found the quickest way to talk to them was to use this mobile number
0450929714
as it is a factory and sometimes they do not answer the above phone number
