wizzard

Heylo, just purchased an 83 L300 with a recon 2L engine. First thing I aim to do is change the oil. I am wondering what would be the best oil to be using on this engine?

Wizzard.
The L300 motor is not highly stresed so any engine oil will do. The most important service item on the L300 is the air cleaner, because the air cleaner is sucking in dusty air all the time it has to be very well closed and connected to the motor. I recomend extending the air intake forward if you can to get into clean air. Apart from that they are a very good vehicle, Eric.

Wizzard,
As mentioned any good quality oil & filter will cut it. I wouldn't bother with synthetics might be a tad over the top. I could mention a brand but I would be biased. I have a high milage Rangie, Coarse plus works a treat, didn't mention the brand....... Doesn't use any between changes, used a more expensive grade of oil and used a bit, if you know what I mean.Keep the shiny side up
