Cooper Ferry Crossing in September

Hi all, We are planning a trip up to northern SA from Sept 14th to 26th and like many would like to use the Cooper ferry, though towing a camper trailer means a total length 8.8m
The original plan was a loop from
Adelaide,
Innamincka,
Birdsville,
Adelaide. We are working on an alternative plan though thought it would be worth asking if there is anyone planning to being at the ferry crossing with a short wheel based vehicle sometime within our travel time. Though a long shot anything with total length 4m or less (that is legally able to tow the camper) would do the job. I was excited and then soon disappointed to read about the quad used for a short period to accomplish the job.
We are very excited about getting out into the Northern part of our state and either way I'm sure will enjoy ourselves.

I think you need to read the previous days posts and you will see that you will most probably need to action
Plan B - sorry but your overall length is too long for the gates on either end of the ferry.

Had seen that and was wondering if anyone would be travelling in the area with a SWB vehicle that would be able to help us with the crossing, like was happening with the quad but legal.
As mentioned we are looking at other plans though thought it would be worth asking on the off chance that there would be someone that could help us out.

just got back from a trip that included a trip on the ferry.
The max length is 7.8 meters and it does not matter if you can fit a trailer on or not. The problem arises that the ferry is to heavy at the front and wont be level for bank to bank transfers.
You need to use the stezlecki track instead or leave your trailer at
Marree and take 4wd onlyfor that loop.

I crossed the the Cooper yesterday on the punt coming from
Birdsville and was lucky enough to drive straight on. The Bridsville track has been closed for the previous few days due to the rain and I spent 2 days sitting by the side of the road waiting for it to dry out and to be reopened.
Regarding the use of a Quad bike to get trailers accross. The local station was doing it, but someone complained and that was stopped since yesterday. This is the present position unless it gets changed in the future.
While I was there, there were about 6 vehicles waiting to cross from the southern side.
