Hi Evan,
We live in Alice and it is finally starting to warm up after a very long and wet winter. The countryside is fantastic at the moment. Green everywhere and the wildflowers are coming out with a vengeance. I believe that all the gorges and waterholes are accessible, some have dirt roads into them but a lot are bitumen. The West Mac's are a great place. If you have the time head all the way past Glen Helen to Gosse Bluff. It is now bitumen most of the way and you could complete the loop back to Alice through Hermannsburg. The tourist info has lots of ideas for things to do. We are leaving later this morning for Adelaide otherwise we could have got together to impart some local knowledge. You will have a great time here.

Don't forget the East MacDonnells as well. The softer colours are very scenic, and Trephina Gorge is a nice camp ground for a base.

Hi MH,

Love your photograph.

We stayed a few nights at Trephina Gorge campground a few years ago and loved the walks and landscape. It is such a beautiful place and it was not as popular with tourists as the West.

We are planning on doing another trip up through the centre on our way to Darwin next Winter and hope to call back in there.

Regards,

Heather.
