Subject: Anne Beadell - worst news

Hello Folks,

Hope everyone is well.

I'm afraid the news about Anne Beadell is the worst. For those we
have just added onto this email list I have included both previous short
newsletters to give you the full picture.

Email - 18th November;

A bit of bad news, Anne Beadell is in
hospital again, went in on Monday afternoon (15th November). This time it's
a stroke. The clot is at the top of the brain stem artery, we saw the MRI
images yesterday. The medicos are trying to dissolve it. As seems usual with
brain cases we just have to wait but it has been decribed as a 50/50 chance
at the moment.

Email - 21st November;

Anne is waking occasionally and talking a
little. Her colour is better and some antibiotics have made the rattly chest
not so noticeable. The clot is still there so there is still a good chance
that the worst may happen, that is the way of it with clots.

Damage to the left side is hard to predict, but the nurses from
observations feel that arm and leg strength are OK but it is obvious that
facially there may be some permanent effects. Still nothing to do but wait.

Yesterday Wednesday 24th November;

Family members were called by the
Hospital before 9:00am. The news was not good. We were all bedside by just
after 10:00am and were informed that Anne had a bad turn around 4:00am which
indicated major complications. Essentially it was thought a bleed in the
brain had occurred more than likely due to the effects of trying to dissolve
the clot (can't win). Anne was taken for a scan about 11:00am and the
results were bad. Two large bleeds had occurred, one at the brain stem where
the clot had lodged and another opposite the previous bleed in February. We
were told there wasn't anything that could be done so Anne was made
comfortable and we waited.

Anne passed away quietly at 1:50pm yesterday afternoon.

Please feel free to forward this to anyone you feel may need to know
or anyone we have forgotten to add to the list.

The family are meeting today to discuss details and we'll let you
know when we have a funeral date.

Regards,

Mick & Connie

P.S. On behalf of the Beadell's I would like to thank everyone for your good
wishes, and for your friendship over the years. It was much appreciated by
her and of course by us at this time. She is now trying to find the best
campsite in that great desert in the sky (move over Len......).

My condolences to the Beadell family.

Met Anne & Len back in the 70's and they left a lasting impression on me as a teenager.
Gave me a great respect and curiosity for the Aussie bush.

May I say I never met Len, Anne or the family, but I spent 16 years Surveying this great country.

I have listened to Lens stories and felt like I could have been there with him.

However Anne herself must have been a very patient woman to put up with Lens absents, then raise a family.

Now they are back together and looking down on all that travel Lens Highways and by ways, probable having a laugh at the stories Len used to tell.

On my bucket list is to travel as many of Lens roads as possible, perhaps a documentary as well.

May Anne rest in peace with Len.

Boh Boh.

Sad news.

You can't travel through much of the interior without the Beadell name coming up.

As someone else said she must have had a good hide lol

End of an Era really...RIP

Spoke to Anne on the phone only a few months back when I ordered one of Len's DVD's.

At the time, I asked Anne if she would be so kind as to sign the DVD addressed to me. She was quite taken back by this request and yet very humbled.

Now hearing this, I'm glad I had the courage to ask.

"Behind every great man is an even greater woman".......how true is this.

RIP Anne.....

To Mick and Connie,

I am not normally moved by the death of people I know about rather than know personally.

I have never met Anne, I have read only one of Len's books and have not yet travelled any of the roads Len is famous for.

Right now I am looking through watery eyes as I type this. Suprised at how this sad news has affected me.

My desire to travel in that part of the world has only been intensified by this news.

My sincere sympathy to all those who were close to Anne. My limited understanding of her leads me to believe that the world is a poorer place for her passing.

Our deepest condolences to you both and the rest of your family Mick & Connie.

We had the pleasure of meeting with Len a couple of times and have a few of his books that he signed for us too.

It was only last week we were in Woomera and we visited his grave.
