Has anybody had anything to do with PMX campers?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270674688942&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

It is only for the occasional trip away and my budget is restricted so something in the range of Pioneer is not an option. This is a hardtop style and is the style I am looking for.

Thoughts appreciated

I have just had a look at their web site and can't see a camper trailer on it.

Perhaps it has only started making them?

The price seems very low when you look at other new hard floor campers.

Correct me if i'm wrong please.....;)

It has been mentioned elsewhere (forums, ebay buyer feedback etc) that these may be "made in China", though i see some ebay ads mentioned "made and assembled in Australia", "100% built in Australia". I find it hard to believe that a camper trailer made in Australia would not have it's branding all over it. ;)

It should be noted that the fabric is a polyester-cotton mix, which is different to the more expensive varieties of camper trailers on the market.

I recall, possibly on EO, talk about these trailers some time back, when they were $7-8K, and these ones look very similiar. There was a new one listed recently that went for around this price (250716634889)

I give the water pump 3 days useful life if going offroad LOL. Being exposed with cables dangling everywhere is a recipe for disaster.

As they advertise them as Off-road, the paintwork at the front will last 100km of dirt road, and will end up being sandblasted back to the supposed galv finish. There is no stone protection anywhere on the trailer as far as i can see, which is needed when getting off the black stuff IMO.

If you want one of these trailers, watch the ebay listings and one at a cheaper price may appear....why pay the extra for something that may not be all that they seem.

Just my thoughts ;)

Andrew

It is the same as the listing # you provided, cheap auction eastern states. I have sent emails to people who have bought them, hope for a reply. Stone protection and cables is an easy fix for me. The unit will get an overhaul straight away if I get one. The tent quality is the bigger issue and general build quality.

Just so you are aware what you are in for before buying ;) I would be asking the seller the hard questions directly as whilst it may not change your decision on brands, it may show the honesty and subsequent support by the seller if required.

Good luck with the purchase, not too bad for the right price.

I agree with Andrew and would go one further.

If its made in china then the supplier has told his first big porky.

If in doubt go for good brand 2nd hand hard or soft floor camper.

You can get a very good aus made new soft floor camper for $12k.

The trailer itself is probably made in China which I've been told by various trailer shops to steer clear of. Poor welds, light gauge steel etc. and everything else attached is made/assembled in Australia. Things to look for is Aussie trailer with good canvas and better ideas where to put a water pump! I agree with Boo Boo .. definitely can pick up an excellent secondhand soft floor for $12,000.

(If its Gal... it should look gal)
