Sounds like bull bleep to me.
I now have a 78 series RV Troopy, (2 months old now) I get a new one every 3 years through my business. I have had a 75 series and another 78 series prior to this one and all have performed in all situations without missing a beat.
Nothing has broken or caused me a problem, my trucks tow trailors for work around 1.8 tonnes they have done the outback, crossed rivers climbed mountains and never had a problem.
I think the problem lies here with the nissan or ford or whatever fraternity.
Every vehicle will need brakes, clutch etc done at sometime nothing last's forever.
And I am sure that it will develop some rust at some point when I don't know.
Me I will be buying another in about 3 years time without hesitation. (Business permitting)
Ask yourself the obvious question, Why do almost all outback stations, farms and mines use Toyota Landcrusier's ?
If you
search the posts on this site you will also find other info in this regard.
Go for it.

John
