The
Bridge in
St George is closed for the 2nd time in 12 months due to flood water. It is currently 0.55m under water and still rising.

They are predicting it to rise above 13.0m again, At 5:30am this morning it was 11.25m and rising.
"The Balonne River at
St George is now expected to reach 12 metres during Monday and 13 metres during Thursday with further rises. At 9pm Saturday the level at
St George was 11.0 metres and rising causing major flooding. The peak is not expected in
St George until the weekend of the 8th/9th January. Predictions of the peak above 13 metres will be given when upstream peaks are recorded."
Looks like they are going to get another big flood there but at least they have had plenty of warning and seem to be getting
well prepared :)

Thanks for sharing the photo.
We camped at the
Kapunda fishing club in November and were told by the owner that the floods earlier this year allowed him to fish from the
toilet block. (which was about 40 feet above were we were camped) Suppose with that amount of water he'll be at it again.

Tey are now predicting that this one may go slightly higher than the March 2011 flood :(
That may mean that 80% of the town will go under :(

Hows it looking up there now Kev. Currently out on a
farm south of Loxton and working our way up the Darling from
Wentworth. Will see how much of it we can do. Were out of range and have to drive 30ks up the road so probably log on again Wednesday. If you think its not a good idea to come near
St George say Friday We wont .

You won't get near
St George by a long way unless you fly in.
They are now predicting the following for
St George and it isn't looking good :(
Reach 13 metres on Thursday 6 Jan;
Reach 13.4 metres (Mar 2010 level) overnight Friday 7 Jan;
Reach 14 metres on Sunday 9 Jan;
Peak possibly higher than 14 metres on Monday 10 Jan or Tuesday 11 Jan.

For those who want to see the approx river height of the March 2010 flood go to
http://www.nearmap.com/ and see where the water actuall went around the
St George area.
I am hoping they captured the
Chinchilla region from this last flood event as
well as we only show the 2004 images :(

Well not too good for a lot of folk up there. The Darling is in fantastic condition for now. We ended up at
Broken hill after following the Murray from
Mildura over to
Murray Bridge and up the Darling. All in fantastic levels flowing over the locks and filling up all those little creeks and ponds on its way. Be interesting when all that water comes down.

The Balonne River at
St George is at 12.98m and still has about 1.0m to rise before it peaks :)
The Paek in the river is about 50km upstream of
St George at the moment.
The water is about 2.12m over the
bridge currently.
The
Bridge at
Chinchilla Weir is finally off it but there is still water over the approaches and there is Major damage to the approaches so it will be some time before I can get to Tara.
